Opposition Labour Party leader Phil Goff, recently accused the Government's policy around youth unemployment, of ignoring the most important factor in youth unemployment – training.

“It’s about young people having the ability to get on training courses, having the support around them to make sure they complete them and get out and get a job,” he told TV3 News.

He has a point. While part of the Government's solution is to pair school leavers not entering work or further education with community organisations, those same organisations are having their funding cut, making it difficult for them to run training programs.
